The Atlas Copco TAM 19 is specifically engineered for contractors who require maximum compaction performance in areas inaccessible to large plate compactors or rollers. Unlike high-frequency vibratory compactors, the TAM 19 uses slow, powerful blows to compact difficult soils with greater penetration, making it particularly effective on clay-rich soils, moist backfill, and finely crushed materials.
Its 19 kg operating weight provides excellent downward force while maintaining good manoeuvrability. The long handle design allows operators to work comfortably with improved control during prolonged use.
The tool incorporates several heavy-duty design features that contribute to its outstanding reliability:
- A heat-treated steel cylinder resists wear from continuous heavy impacts.
- A chrome-plated piston reduces friction, prevents corrosion, and extends service life.
- An integral automatic oiler continuously lubricates internal moving parts, reducing wear and minimising maintenance.
- The aluminium butt can be replaced quickly using a simple clamp screw, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
- A directional exhaust deflector keeps air, moisture, and oil away from the operator, creating a cleaner and safer working environment.
Atlas Copco also designed the TAM 19 with excellent balance and ergonomics, allowing a single operator to achieve professional compaction results with reduced fatigue compared to heavier mechanical alternatives.
